Gathering the Truths of our Past, Embracing our Present, Preparing our Future. 

Keynote Speaker: Cindy Nava

Nava is a graduate research assistant at the University of New Mexico Center for Education Policy Research and serves as a Majority Pool Education Analyst at the NM State Legislature. Her work in policy, advocacy, and civic engagement has led her to lead distinctive statewide and national policy agendas to support access to higher education for minority students. In 2016, she became the first DREAMer to be awarded the Rising Star Award by the NM Democratic Party. Nava is a national motivational speaker on leadership focused on empowering minority students through civic and political engagement. Cindy is currently completing an MA degree in Higher Education Leadership and Policy, while also serving as an official Huffington Post Blogger.

Special Guest: Supaman

As a member of the “Apsaalooke Nation”, Supaman makes his home on the Crow reservation in Montana. The name “Supaman” hardly describes the person who Is Christian Takes Gun Parrish, a humble Native American dancer and hip-hop artist who has dedicated his life to empowering youth and educating listeners with a message of hope through culture and music. His presentation style and delivery are nothing short of captivating. Known for his powerful inspirational lyrics, he is in demand nationally with the purpose of spreading a positive message throughout Indian country and abroad. In2005 he won the Native American Music Award for his group “Rezawrecktion”. Most recently, he was part of a collaboration that received a 2017 MTV Video Music Award in the “Fight Against the System Category.”
