Dedication to Supporting Quality Dual Language Programs
The Guiding Principles for Dual Language Education was originally developed by a national panel of dual language experts and reviewers, published in 2004. Its conception was based on the Framework of Best Practices for New Mexico Dual Language Programs, developed by Dual Language Education of New Mexico. It serves as a tool to help dual language program leadership with planning and ongoing implementation. Grounded in evidence from research and best practices, the book addresses program issues in seven strands:

1. Program Structure
2. Curriculum
3. Instruction
4. Assessment and Accountability
5. Staff Quality and Professional Development
6. Family and Community
7. Support and Resources

Dual Language Education of New Mexico has always believed that this critical resource must be available to all stakeholders interested in developing or strengthening dual language programs. In its third edition, this publication is still offered as a free electronic download through Thanks to our collaboration with the Center for Applied Linguistics this publicaton is still offered as an electronic download (Download HERE).
